I like to post about 3 times a week here. Unfortunately, when I get busy, it becomes difficult, and I drop to 1 post a week, as has happened a couple of times in the last month. When this happens, it is because I am doing more election research, not less. At least, that’s what it means this time and on past occasions. That may change in the future. For now, less output in the ZarkFiles means more output somewhere else.
My initial findings in Wisconsin exposed some serious flaws, but further research has shown it is much worse than it looked at first. It looks so bad that I am currently triple-checking my results to make sure of them before sending them out.
During the moments when I have to wait for my computer to finish an operation, I draw layouts for the graphic novel I’m doing with Mike Baron. A couple of those layouts are at the top of this post. As I work on it, I frequently think of how much easier it is to draw a superhero comic than one grounded in reality, as this one is. Not only that, but the reality of the late sixties and early seventies, which increases the difficulty of finding appropriate reference.
My productivity here should shoot up as soon as I complete the Wisconsin research, which shouldn’t take much longer. Until then, I hope you enjoyed the peek at part of a page for the graphic novel.
We will take what we can get.
Always appreciated.
When drawing about the USA in the late 60's/early 70's - don't forget the garbage! We used to litter in this country. A lot. Every alley had a ton of broken glass. Lakes and ponds where people swam had broken glass.
Everything was dirty, everyone was poor, & kids were given trash (paper towel rolls, popsicle sticks, construction paper) as "art supplies". There were crayons for color, & Elmer's glue. Tall grass was woven together to make masks and hats.
It wasn't all disco & cocaine in the 70's, that's for sure.
Looking forward to it! Mike Baron is fantastic!
