My daughter takes me out golfing on my birthday, and today was the day, delayed a little due to weather. The idea is to get me outside for a couple hours of sunshine and exercise. Otherwise, I’d be in my office until four in the morning, either looking at files full of arcane numbers or drawing a comic book.
This year, I became a senior citizen. The clerk at the golf course actually asked me how old I was to see if I qualified for the senior discount (I did). Not only that, I start getting my pension sometime this month. The good news is that the annual value of my pension is about equal to my property tax bill, which is my largest annual expenditure.
With that taken care of, I just have to worry about my actual living expenses. Not counting health insurance of course, because that is too expensive. Besides, after the Covid lockdown, mask mandates, and dubious vaccines, I don’t trust most doctors any more. The urgent care doctors I’ve gone to in my area have a near-perfect record of diagnosing everything incorrectly.
With all this in mind, after I get my current project finished, and provided no one asks me to write a book about my election research, my next project will be an upgrade to the Zark Files. The goal is to have a semi-regular or even very regular video podcast.
The site doesn’t generate enough income to spring for a beautiful set, so at first you’ll just see my tiny office behind me. I did get a new webcam though, so the office will look better than in earlier web videos I’ve made. Later, if things go well, I’m planning on putting a set in a spare room, devoted to the Zark Files.
Until then, please enjoy this video of today’s golf outing. Please keep in mind, I am not a pro golfer. I golf for fun only, barely know the rules, and let crowds of people play through as I make my way across the course in only twice the time it takes everyone else.
